IV - COMMERCIAL Medicare ad with Leslie Nielsen

MEDICARE AD WITH LESLIE NIELSEN

Oh, hello, friends always ask me, Bert, who can answer my health care questions?
Well, even though that’s not my name I tell them to call 1-800-medicare. They’ll tell you what medicare covers, how to stay healthy and so much (excuse me) and so much more.
Turn around to the experts with the answers. Medicare. Take it from your old pal Chuck.

IV - WHAT'S THE STORY Craig David "7 Days"

CRAIG DAVID “7 DAYS”

On my way to see my friends
who lived a couple blocks away from me (owh)
As I walked through the subway
it must have been about quarter past three
In front of me
stood a beautiful honey with a beautiful body
She asked me for the time
I said it'd cost her her name
a six digit number & a date with me tomorrow at nine

Did she decline? No
Didn't she mind? I don't think so
Was it for real? Damn sure
What was the deal? A pretty girl aged 24
So was she keen? She couldn't wait
Cinnamon queen? let me update
What did she say? She said she'd love to
rendezvous
She asked me what we were gonna do
said we'd start with a bottle of moet for two

[Chorus]

Monday
took her for a drink on Tuesday
we were making love by Wednesday
and on Thursday & Friday & Saturday we chilled on Sunday
I met this girl on Monday
took her for a drink on Tuesday
we were making love by Wednesday
and on Thursday & Friday & Saturday we chilled on Sunday

[Verse 2]
Nine was the time
cos I'll be getting mine
and she was looking fine
Smooth talker
she told me
She'd love to unfold me all night long
Ooh I loved the way she kicked it
from the front to back she flipped (back she flipped it, ooh the
way she
kicked it)
And I oh oh I yeah
hope that she'd care
cos I'm a man who'll always be there

Ooh yeah
I'm not a man to play around baby
Ooh yeah
cos a one night stand isn't really fair
From the first impression girl hmm you don't seem to be like that
Cos there's no need to chat for there'll be plenty for that
From the subway to my home
endless ringing of my phone
When you feeling all alone
all you gotta do
is just call me call me

[Chorus]

Monday
took her for a drink on Tuesday
we were making love by Wednesday
and on Thursday & Friday & Saturday we chilled on Sunday
I met this girl on Monday
took her for a drink on Tuesday
we were making love by Wednesday
and on Thursday & Friday & Saturday we chilled on Sunday

[Bridge]

(Break it down, uh break it down)
Since I met this special lady
ooh yeah
I can't get her of my mind
She's one of a kind
And I ain't about to deny it
It's a special kinda thing
with you-oh.......

[Chorus]

Monday
took her for a drink on Tuesday
we were making love by Wednesday
and on Thursday & Friday & Saturday we chilled on Sunday
I met this girl on Monday
took her for a drink on Tuesday
we were making love by Wednesday
and on Thursday & Friday & Saturday we chilled on Sunday

VI - WHAT'S THE STORY Prince "Damn u"

PRINCE “DAMN U”

Lyrics for Album: The Love Symbol Album

Damn you, you're so fine
Seems to happen to me each and every time we make love
I can't hold back
It's like having a hundred million little heart attacks
Damn you, baby you're so fine
Damn this kooky love affair
All I ever wanna do is play in your hair
Two people crazy in love
Into one another like a hand in a glove
Damn this kooky love affair

Guitar solo

Damn you  (whispering)

Like animals just born to breed
Come to think about ya baby
You're my only need
I'm on fire ‘till you come and put me out
All I'm trying to say, is that my psychedelic shouts
When you damn me
Damn you
When I'm in your arms, it's all that I can do
When we're makin' love, I can't hold back
It's like having a hundred million little heart attacks
Damn you, baby you're so fine

Damn you, baby you're so fine
Damn you, baby you're so fine

VII - WHAT'S THE STORY West side story "María"

WEST SIDE STORY “MARIA”

(spoken)
María . . .
(sings)
The most beautiful sound I ever heard:
María, María, María, María. . .
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word . .
María, María, María, María. . .
María!
I've just met a girl named María,
And suddenly that name
Will never be the same
To me.
María!
I've just kissed a girl named María,
And suddenly I've found
How wonderful a sound
Can be!
María!
Say it loud and there's music playing,
Say it soft and it's almost like praying.

María,
I'll never stop saying María!

The most beautiful sound I ever heard.
María

X - GRAMMAR The future I

SIMPLE FUTURE
Simple Future has two different forms in English: "will" and "be going to." Although the two forms can sometimes be used interchangeably, they often express two very different meanings. These different meanings might seem too abstract at first, but with time and practice, the differences will become clear. Both "will" and "be going to" refer to a specific time in the future.

FORM Will
[will + verb]
Examples:
·       You will help him later.
·       Will you help him later?
·       You will not help him later.

FORM Be Going To
[am/is/are + going to + verb]
Examples:

·       You are going to meet Jane tonight.
·       Are you going to meet Jane tonight?
·       You are not going to meet Jane tonight.

USE 1 "Will" to Express a Voluntary Action
"Will" often suggests that a speaker will do something voluntarily. A voluntary action is one the speaker offers to do for someone else. Often, we use "will" to respond to someone else's complaint or request for help. We also use "will" when we request that someone help us or volunteer to do something for us. Similarly, we use "will not" or "won't" when we refuse to voluntarily do something.
Examples:
·       will send you the information when I get it.
·       will translate the email, so Mr. Smith can read it.
·       Will you help me move this heavy table?
·       Will you make dinner?
·       will not do your homework for you.
·       won't do all the housework myself!
·       A: I'm really hungry.
B: I'll make some sandwiches.
·       A: I'm so tired. I'm about to fall asleep.
B: I'll get you some coffee.
·       A: The phone is ringing.
B: I'll get it.

USE 2 "Will" to Express a Promise
"Will" is usually used in promises.
Examples:
·       will call you when I arrive.
·       If I am elected President of the United States, I will make sure everyone has access to inexpensive health insurance.
·       I promise I will not tell him about the surprise party.
·       Don't worry, I'll be careful.
·       won't tell anyone your secret.

USE 3 "Be going to" to Express a Plan
"Be going to" expresses that something is a plan. It expresses the idea that a person intends to do something in the future. It does not matter whether the plan is realistic or not.
Examples:
·       He is going to spend his vacation in Hawaii.
·       She is not going to spend her vacation in Hawaii.
·       A: When are we going to meet each other tonight?
B: We are going to meet at 6 PM.
·       I'm going to be an actor when I grow up.
·       Michelle is going to begin medical school next year.
·       They are going to drive all the way to Alaska.
·       Who are you going to invite to the party?
·       A: Who is going to make John's birthday cake?
B: Sue is going to make John's birthday cake.

USE 4 "Will" or "Be Going to" to Express a Prediction
Both "will" and "be going to" can express the idea of a general prediction about the future. Predictions are guesses about what might happen in the future. In "prediction" sentences, the subject usually has little control over the future and therefore USES 1-3 do not apply. In the following examples, there is no difference in meaning.
Examples:
·       The year 2222 will be a very interesting year.
·       The year 2222 is going to be a very interesting year.
·       John Smith will be the next President.
·       John Smith is going to be the next President.
·       The movie "Zenith" will win several Academy Awards.
·       The movie "Zenith" is going to win several Academy Awards.

IMPORTANT
In the Simple Future, it is not always clear which USE the speaker has in mind. Often, there is more than one way to interpret a sentence's meaning.

No Future in Time Clauses
Like all future forms, the Simple Future cannot be used in clauses beginning with time expressions such as: when, while, before, after, by the time, as soon as, if, unless, etc. Instead of Simple Future, Simple Present is used.
Examples:
·       When you will arrive tonight, we will go out for dinner. Not Correct
·       When you arrive tonight, we will go out for dinnerCorrect

USE Present Continuous To Talk About The Near Future

Sometimes, speakers use the Present Continuous to indicate that something will or will not happen in the near future.
Examples:
·       am meeting some friends after work.
·       am not going to the party tonight.
·       Is he visiting his parents next weekend?
·       Isn't he coming with us tonight?

ACTIVE / PASSIVE
Examples:
·       John will finish the work by 5:00 PM. Active
·       The work will be finished by 5:00 PM. Passive
·       Sally is going to make a beautiful dinner tonight. Active
·       A beautiful dinner is going to be made by Sally tonight. Passive
